Camp Rules

Here, you are guests of Mother Nature.

Be aware: Camp Bjni is located within an active village settlement. While we have a fair amount of human activity, there are occasional wildlife sightings at night.

Honor wildlife: Please see our notices around Camp Bjni about dealing with wild animals such as grey bears, wolves, foxes, snakes and reptiles.

Never attempt to touch a wild animal: Do not approach, feed or tempt wildlife. They may lash out or carry diseases.

Store food in the Lodge refrigerator or the trunk of your car, not in your tent: Wild animals have become especially adept at opening food/beverage coolers and ransacking food storage containers left at the campsite.

Do not feed wild animals: Wildlife will expect to find food at your campsite and will become troublesome. Put food scraps and fat drippings in closed (air tight) containers, not in the campfire.

Honor food use: Eating responsibly in tents is permitted. Do not cook in your tent. Never store food and cooking gear in your sleeping area. Immediately remove trash and clean cooking utensils after each meal. Keep food in a closed-up vehicle (car trunk is preferable).

Keep the campsite clean and fragrance-free: Food, food wrappers, leftovers and even scented soaps will attract wildlife.

Respect the property: Registered campers are permitted at the campsites. No person shall damage, move or remove any plant, animal, equipment, furniture, structure, artifact or physical feature on this property. If you damage a tent or other form of Camp Bjni equipment during your rental period, you will be charged for repairs.

Respect your neighbors: Keep noise to a minimum and be thoughtful of other campers. Avoid car alarms, loud music/ audio equipment or loud voices.

Keep our lands pristine: Please do not pollute, litter or dump garbage. Pick up the waste that you generate. Dispose of trash in one of our dumpsters. When hiking, bring a bag to carry out your garbage until you find a trash receptacle. Maintain a clean campsite.

Practice safe conduct around the River and natural pond: You MUST wear water shoes when wading into the Hrazdan River or enjoying the 10 foot-deep natural pond. No adult nor child should be left unattended near these bodies of water. We do not have life guards.

Prepare for hikes: Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes. Tell someone where you plan to go and when you expect to return. Hike and climb responsibly – many high cliffs have no barrier walls. Our Welcome Desk/Camp Store has some hiking essentials for sale.

Please consult REI’s checklist* on what to take with you: Hiking Under Two Hours / Hiking Over Two Hours

Carry no weapons: Shooting, hunting and target practice are prohibited.

Use matches carefully to prevent damage to wildlife, property and people.
